Community Manager

The Role

Mooncolony continues to grow at lightning speed, producing premium artwork and illustrations for some of the most recognisable game studios around the globe. 

As we grow, so does our community of passionate artists. That’s why a new position has opened up for a lively and engaging Community Manager to join our core team in Cambridge.

As our Community Manager, you will play a key role in the continued growth of the art community that surrounds the Mooncolony brand. In addition to maintaining direct communication with our community members, you will help create content and undertake adhoc duties to keep the community engaged and invested, via  events, challenges and contests. This position will also be key in nurturing and evolving our internal studio culture and sense of community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the core team to manage, grow and support the Mooncolony Community.
  • Engage in, monitor and align conversation across all channels as a representative of Mooncolony.
  • Seek to build relationships with key stakeholders including the core team, our freelancers, industry influencers and community members
  • Identify and implement changes and areas for improvement across the Discord server and within community communication and interactions.
  • Provide reports on community sentiment and activity.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to promote the community, promote events, create compelling community communication and generate content.
  • Generate and host original content for our channels, including live streams on Discord and Twitch.
  • Moderate and maintain a strong presence on the Discord server, utilising both voice and text chat.
  • Manage online events including contests and challenges.
  • Plan and schedule initiatives to drive engagement by executing a community engagement calendar in line with Marketing and Recruitment activities and business strategy.
  • Collaborate and assist core team members as and when required.

What you should have:

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good understanding of social media channels (in particular Discord and Twitch).
  • Experience in a similar role, or experience with live streaming and written content creation.
  • An upbeat attitude, comfortable to participate in and present live streaming.
  • Ability to address challenging situations within the community when required.
  • Collaborative, proactive and creative.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to react positively to change.
  • Ability to accurately report and monitor feedback.
  • Willing and able to travel to occasional industry events.
  • High flexibility to deal with changes and pressure on short notice, to occasionally cover later hours and/or weekends.

Bonus skills: 

  • Previous experience managing online communities
  • Strong interest in Games and Game Development A passion for gaming and gaming communities
  • Basic ability in art with a good understanding of fundamentals
  • Familiarity with the art industry for games and entertainment, including communities, influencers and art learning material
